Michelle Moore

michelle Co-Owner, Executive/Artistic Director, Choreographer, Instructor
Michelle Moore has been dancing over 30 years and has over 20 years of teaching experience. She attended Point Park University pursuing a degree in dance before opening the studio. She has studied with some of the great names and legends of the dance profession, including: Frank Hatchett, Joe Tremaine, Gus Giordano, Luigi, Savion Glover, Jimmy Slyde, Henry LeTang and many more. Michelle was an avid gymnast and an Olympic candidate for the 1984 Olympics. She has danced professionally in Atlantic City, Disney World, New York City, and Los Angeles. Michelle’s extensive training in the arts makes her a well sought after adjudicator (judge) and master class teacher for several dance competitions on both the regional and national level.

Amy Johnston

amyj Co-Owner, Co-Artistic Director, Instructor, Choreographer
Amy began dancing at the age of 3 and has been teaching for over a decade. Throughout her dancing career, Amy has performed in Pittsburgh festivals and charity performances, Disney World, Michael McPherson’s Physical Magic Show, and Idlewild Theme Park. Her studies have taken place at dance centers such as Broadway Dance Center, Steps, the Edge, and the Performance Arts Center. She has also studied with master teachers including Luigi, Phil Black, Frank Hatchett, Steve Sirico, and Angela D’Valda. Amy’s students have received honors and awards on regional and national levels. She is a 2001 graduate from LaRoche College with a B.A. in psychology, CPR Certification, and Act 33/34 clearances.

Renee Smith

Renee PDE Instructor and Choreographer
Renee Smith is a native of Columbus, Ohio where she began her dance training at Columbus DanceArts Academy. She recently received her BFA in dance from Point Park University where she performed works by many established choreographers such as Jason McDole, Doug Bentz, Judith Leifer, Kiesha Lalama-White, Ron Tassone, Brenda Buffalino, Heidi Latsky, and Whitney Moncrief. Renee also was awarded a scholarship to the Lou Conte Dance Studio in Chicago where she trained for 3 months and has participated in Jazz Dance World Congress, RiverNorth Dance Intensive, Columbus Youth Ballet’s summer program, and Malashock Dance Company’s summer workshop and showcase. She is currently also involved with various dance projects in the Pittsburgh community. Renee loves sharing her passion and knowledge of dance with all ages and levels of dancers and is very excited to be a part of Pittsburgh Dance Explosion’s community of creativity and talent.

Tuition

Tuition is an annual fee divided into equal monthly installments based on hours per week. Tuition is due the first lesson of the month and late after the 10th day of the month. It is not all inclusive. Expenses for costumes, recital fees, private lessons, and tickets to events are additional. Holidays have been accounted for in the tuition calculations. There are no discounts for holidays taken, vacations or missed classes. All student families will be required to register in person and pay a one time registration fee. Students may withdraw from any class by filling out a withdrawal slip with one month advanced notice. Each registered student will receive a welcome packet which includes information on our policies, dress code guidelines, schedule, and studio information.

A 10% discounts given to families with multiple students, parents of PDE students and senior citizens taking classes. Look forward to special offers and discounts throughout the year!
